It’s that time of year when we trade out our mountain bikes for Fat Bikes and put the gravel bike on the trainer. Every year for Global Fat Bike Day, bikers all over the world gather on the first Saturday of December (December 6, 2025) for group rides to celebrate. If you’re looking to join a ride, here are some great ones happening all over Michigan.

Muskegon Luge-Once a year the trails at Muskegon Luge are opened to bikes! Get out and experience the beautiful scenery on these trails for Global Fat Bike Day. All bikes are welcome (not just fat bikes, though, if there is snow you’ll definitely want a fat bike). Rides times are from 12pm-10pm with lights on at dusk. State park recreation pass required.

WMMBA and MEMBA Ride-Take a Lakeshore Ride in Holland with WMMBA and MEMBA! 15.5 miles taking in the beach, Riley Trails, and more of the West side of Holland. Ride starts at Holland State Park at 10am.

Midland City Forest-CMMBA, along with Adventure Team Midland and Ray’s Bike Shop is hosting an awesome ride if you live out that way. Ray’s Bike Shop will have rentals available if you don’t have your own fat bike and want to see what it is all about. There will also be food provided for lunch.

Sleepy Hollow State Park, Laingsburg-Be a part of “the LARGEST Global Fat Bike Day celebration in the world” this Saturday! Hosted by MMMBA, event starts at 10am and with rides rolling out at 10:30. Replete with a chili cook-off, 12 miles of beginner friendly trails, and tons of other food, it’s going to be a great day of community and biking. No fat bike needed to participate as long as conditions allow. Make sure to pre-register if you are going to make day of easier for the volunteers that will be there.

We think riding and celebrating are more fun with a group, but whether you join a group ride or not, get out on that fat bike and celebrate Global Fat Bike Day however you please!
